i had this miss fortune to visit howies in stockbridge a numbewr of years ago. the food was poorly cooked and badly presented, the service was slow and uninteressted. i've spoken to number of people since who have had simmilar experiences, i wil not return to this chain of bad restaurants i would urge others to reconsider.

100% agree. Howies is probably, pound for pound, IMHO, the best value lunch dining in the city centre, and their website has offers in all but the peak summer months. We go for lunch about once a month, use the offers too, and ordinarily only spend around £20 for lunch for 2, in a wonderful environment. Waterloo place is our most convenient; when I consider what rubbish is sold in places a stones throw from that location, eg St James Centre cafes, Princes St and surrounding, etc it really is amazing quality, and difficult to fault.

For lunch, Howies is a first pick every time, for dinner... I'd never be disappointed if we went but it isn't quite the same for some reason I can't quite put my finger on.
