THE best ice cream in Edinburgh is to be found at the bottom of Comely Bank Avenue, in Geraldo Alonzi’s newsagent. This is close to Inverleith Park if you are there for a visit.
The Alonzi family have been selling their great home made Italian ice cream in Edinburgh for the whole of my lifetime (30 + years). They have other shops around Edinburgh (sadly no more at Blackhall).
I have yet to find a better ice cream anywhere in the world (and that includes, lots of places in Italy, Australia and America). It beats Luca’s and Mackie’s Scottish ice cream hands down.
Personal favourite is the vanilla, but all the usual flavours are there too.
Go visit and get one, you wont be disappointed !
SUITABLE FOR DISABLED ? Yes, it’s on flat ground with wheelchair access on the pavements at the crossing.

Who knew?! Just round the corner from me; I shall definitely be checking out the vanilla
Wow, better than Luca’s? Must go and try. It’s only a short walk from where I live so I’m surprised my kids don’t know about it (shall I keep it a secret?). Mind you, ice cream in November?
