REVIEW – A Room In The Town, Howe Street

Dessert at A Room In The Town

A Room In The Town is something of an Edinburgh institution, having served some lovely Scottish food to happy customers for 10 years now.

Relatively small, with around 60 covers, the restuarant is decorated in a quirky Scottish / European bistro style, which is reflected in the choices on the menu.

Example dishes include tattie (potato) & chorizo cakes, chicken supreme with lime yoghurt dressing and some splendid and fresh seafood dishes. Vegetables come on a side dish allowing you to help yourself, and the food portions are generous: I doubt you’ll leave A Room In The Town hungry!

A pretty solid wine list is complemented by a great selection of bottled beers, many of them Scottish. Make sure you leave room for dessert too, as this place’s puddings are a treat!

Service is friendly and efficient and the price is pretty reasonable too, especially at lunchtime. My friend and I both had three courses and a couple of drinks, and the bill came to around £20 each, which I thought was pretty reasonable given the quality and quantity of the fare on offer.

Definitely an Edinburgh Spotlight Favourite!
