The other week after dining at Amicus Apple in Frederick Street, my friend and I wanted fresh air, but then wanted a cup of tea / coffee. Starbucks and Costa were shut at 8pm, not that I like those places anyway and we decided on the famous vegetarian restaurant – Hendersons of Edinburgh in Hanover Street.

The restaurant will get a full review in due course, but the night we visited, we solely wanted a cup of tea and a chat to end our night.
Hendersons is a venue for the Edinburgh Fringe and has many different performances on starting early in the morning – Burns at Breakast. See their website for more details.
They had a good selection of teas and coffees and I opted for a pot of jasmine at £1.65. Despite it being a Tuesday night, the place was quite busy with diners or people kicking back and enjoying a drink.

There was an acoustic guitarist playing in the main part of the restaurant which was a nice touch and would make me return to the restaurant for this alone.
I like the clientele in Henderson’s – not the type of people to have one too many and get aggressive.
There should be more places to have a late night drink in central Edinburgh, but for now Henderson’s will do for me.
Suitable for disabled ? The main restaurant is not suitable as it’s down a steep flight of stairs
The bistro section is on street level, but I didn’t visit it so can’t comment for certain.
