REVIEW – Chez Pierre for Lunch, New Town

Chez Pierre is run by Pierre Levicky who used to run the fabulous Pierre Victoire in Edinburgh.  His restaurant at Eyre Place (New Town)  is one of my favourite and I often dine here with my family and friends at the weekend to enjoy the French food.

If you want to try a sample of the food on offer, then I suggest you head for his lunch menu at an extremely reasonable £6.90 for a main, salad, tapas and bread.

I was originally brought a tapas starter that had prawns in it, but since I am allergic, I told them and it was promptly dealt with and a more suitable starter appeared.  You don’t get a choice on the quick lunch starter, it works on assumption that you will eat what’s in front of you !   The salad was good in a beautiful dressing and the bread was ample for one.  You do get a choice of 3 dishes for the main course.

I had the main of fish in breadcrumbs which was very tasty with french fries, dressing and lemon.  I finished the plate off nicely, but didn’t have time for dessert.  I can personally recommend his sticky toffee pudding or his freshly made crepes (often with chocolate sauce).

The service in Chez Pierre is impeccable and groups are made to feel welcome.  At lunchtime it’s a business crowd due to the offices nearby and a booking would be adviseable to make sure you get a table.

I was in and out in 40 minutes, which makes it perfect for a lunch hour.

Suitable for disabled? Yes it’s on ground level, as are the bathrooms.
