The Balmoral hotel is a landmark in Edinburgh and is pretty much visible from the whole of Princes Street, North Bridge, The Castle and Calton Hill.
The clock runs a few minutes fast, so that commuters get to Waverley train station beneath it on time to catch their train. The only time the clock is completely accurate is on New Year’s Eve (Hogmanay).
