REVIEW – Well Hung and Tender, Castle Street

Another beautiful sunny day in Edinburgh as we head into the weekend. Thought I would treat myself a takeaway lunch from Well Hung and Tender in Castle Street (near Queen Street end).

It’s a little more expensive (and better) than Greggs but not as expensive as eating out for lunch.  Their website is  HERE.

The menu is based around different kinds of burgers and steak standwiches which are cooked fresh to order.

Well Hung and Tender Menu

I opted for the steak baguette (£5.50) which came in lovely cracked wheat bread with caramelised onions and honey /mustard mayonnaise.  The smell in this shop makes you VERY hungry – it’s simply wonderful and the staff were friendly and efficient.

I sat outside at the table, and got stuck into my lunch

Steak baguette

The beef was cooked to perfection, really tender, melt in the mouth stuff.  The onions were lovely and it didn’t take that long to eat it !!   Generous portions of meat and I was not left feeling hungry afterwards (although I could have eaten another one through sheer greed ;))

This place is no good if your vegetarian –  they only do meat.  A selection of raw meat is available for purchase if you want to cook at home .

A delicious change of the lunch time sandwich despite it being twice the price.

Suitable for disabled ?        Yes – it’s on even ground and room to move inside  :)
